The project area lies between latitude 34\u00b0 20\u00b4 and 34\u00b0 30\u00b4 North and longitude 70\u00b0 30\u00b4 and 70\u00b0 50\u00b4 East. The area is bordered by Pakistan to the north and east, the Kabul River to the south, and Kunar River to the west.<\/p><p><strong>Project Background<\/strong><\/p><p>In 1973, the feasibility studies for the irrigation development of the Kama Plain and hydropower generation were conducted by Sanyu Consultants Inc. of Japan.
