Darian Dam & Hydropower Plant

The Sirvan River has always attracted attention due to its suitable discharge and strategic location. The project site is located adjacent to Darian Village, approximately 25 Km northwest of Paveh City and 150 Km from Kermanshah City.

The phase I studies were based on the results of water resources planning and management. In 2008, the design and construction supervision were subsequently assigned to Mahab Ghodss Consulting Engineering Company under a contract covering the phase II & III studies (general supervision & site supervision).   

  • Regulation and utilization of the Sirvan River flow for hydropower generation.
  • Water transfer to adjacent watersheds, including the Garmsiri Plains, through the Nowsoud Tunnel, for agricultural use in the river basins of these regions.
  • Provision of downstream water rights below the dam.  
  • Use of an inclined impervious clay core within the dam body
  • Placement of approximately 11 million cubic meters of embankment fill over a period of about 3.5 years.
  • Successful preservation of the Bel Spring prior to reservoir impoundment.
