Korca Irrigation and Drainage System Rehabilitation Project, Albania

The Korca Irrigation and Drainage Rehabilitation Project was developed with the following objectives:

  • To enhance the efficiency of irrigation water conveyance, distribution, and delivery systems.
  • To optimize the use of available water resources and provide additional water availability to satisfy increasing irrigation demands.
  • To improve drainage capacity for the effective removal of excess water resulting from precipitation, irrigation runoff, and deep percolation.
  • To rehabilitate and modernize pumping stations and access roads to improve the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the system.

Scope of Consutlancy Services for the Rehabilitation of the Zemblaku Dam

  • Review and update of the hydrological studiesof the Devollit River, including flood estimation, assessment of the required spillway discharge capacity, and sedimentation analysis.
  • Topographic surveying of the spillway siteand preparation of topographic maps required for the design of the stilling basin.
  • Design and preparation of construction drawings for the spillway concrete structures.
  • Design and preparation of drawings for radial and slide gates, including their lifting mechanisms.
  • Design and preparation of drawings for the main intake structureand the intakes of the E-1 and Zvezda main canals.
  • Design and preparation of drawings for additional spillway components, including stoplogs, riverbed and riverbank protection works, and fish ladders.
  • Design and preparation of drawings for the downstream stilling basin.
  • Preparation of Bills of Quantities (BoQ), and tender documentationfor civil works, hydromechanical equipment, and lifting devices.
  • Supervision of civil construction works.
  • Supervision of installation of hydromechanical equipment and lifting systems.

Scope of Consultancy Services for the Rehabilitation of Irrigation Canals and Structures

  • Topographic surveying and preparation of longitudinal profiles, cross-sections, and topographic mapping for primary and secondary irrigation canals and major hydraulic structures.
  • Evaluation of canal conditions and identification of sections requiring rehabilitation, lining, desilting, and protective measures.
  • Detailed engineering design and preparation of construction drawings for canal rehabilitation works.
  • Assessment and selection of hydraulic structures requiring repair, rehabilitation, or reconstruction.
  • Detailed design and preparation of construction drawings for hydraulic structures and associated gate systems.
  • Preparation of Bills of Quantities (BoQ), and tender documentation for irrigation canals, structures, and gates.
  • Construction supervision of canal rehabilitation works, hydraulic structures, and gate installation activities.

Scope of Consultancy Services for the Rehabilitation of Drainage Canals and Structures

  • Topographic surveying and preparation of longitudinal profiles, cross-sections, and topographic maps for drainage canals and major drainage structures.
  • Detailed engineering design and preparation of construction drawings for drainage canal rehabilitation works.
  • Assessment, rehabilitation design, and preparation of construction drawings for drainage structures requiring repair, upgrading, or reconstruction.
  • Preparation of Bills of Quantities (BoQ), and tender documentation for drainage canals and structures.
  • Construction supervision of canal and structure rehabilitation works.

Scope of Consultancy Services for the Rehabilitation of Pumping Stations

  • Surveying and preparation of the site topographic maps and pipeline strip mapping for the UFSH1 and UFSH3 Pumping Stations.
  • Detailed engineering design of hydromechanical and electrical systems, including associated auxiliary equipment, and preparation of technical specifications and equipment schedules for the Dishnica and Belorta Pumping Stations.
  • Detailed engineering design and preparation of construction drawings for the Dishnica and Belorta Pumping Stations.
  • Preparation of Bills of Quantities (BoQ), and tender documentation for the Dishnica and Belorta pumping station rehabilitation works.
  • Construction supervision of the Dishnica, Belorta, UFSH1 and UFSH3 pumping station rehabilitation and modernization works.
  • Installation supervision of hydromechanical equipment, pipelines, and related systems.

Scope of Consultancy Services for Access Road Rehabilitation

  • Topographic surveying and preparation of longitudinal profiles and cross-sections for access roads.
  • Detailed design and preparation of construction drawings for access road rehabilitation and improvement works.
