The 18th Joint Economic, Commercial, and Cultural Commission of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Tajikistan was held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in Dushanbe. In this significant event, attended by Abbas Aliabadi, the Minister of Energy, Ali Nourzad, CEO of Mahab Ghodss Consulting Engineering Company, was the only CEO of an Iranian consulting engineering firm to accompany the Minister of Energy and his deputies.
The presence of the Mahab Ghodss CEO alongside the Minister of Energy and senior ministry officials took place within the framework of technical and professional cooperation between the two nations. During the commission, avenues for expanding joint collaboration in sectors such as water, electricity, oil, transportation, insurance, and health were reviewed, resulting in the signing of valuable agreements for the development of economic and technical relations between Iran and Tajikistan.
Based on the outcomes of this meeting, the volume of bilateral cooperation has reached approximately half a billion dollars annually. Referring to the upward trend of bilateral engagement, the Minister of Energy stated: “We have experienced a growth of nearly 50 percent compared to the past, which is a remarkable figure.”

Furthermore, Daler Juma, Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan, emphasized the necessity of leveraging the technical and engineering capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He called for an expanded presence of Iranian technologies and expertise in Tajikistan’s energy, industrial, and other economic sectors.
Continuing his visit to Tajikistan, the Minister of Energy also attended the 4th International Water Conference, where he presented six proposals regarding international water cooperation, including:
- Establishment of a Regional Forum for Water, Climate, and Infrastructure Resilience.
- Development of a Regional Initiative for the Protection of Critical Water and Energy Infrastructure.
- Development of Joint Early Warning Systems for Environmental Hazards.
- Expansion of Scientific and Technological Cooperation in Intelligent Water Resource Management.
- Strengthening the Link between Regional Water and Energy Diplomacy.
- Special Emphasis on the Role of Women, Youth, Academics, Researchers, and Engagement with NGOs in Water Governance.
On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, an official dinner was hosted by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Tajikistan, attended by the Honorable Minister of Energy, Abbas Aliabadi, the high-ranking accompanying delegation, and Ali Nourzad, CEO of Mahab Ghodss.

Throughout this trip, the CEO of Mahab Ghodss was an integral part of the Minister of Energy’s delegation, gaining firsthand insight into the negotiations and programs related to the advancement of bilateral cooperation.
